Case: Early pregnancy bleeding and collapse

A 23-year-old female presents to your Emergency Department with lower abdominal discomfort and some per-vaginal bleeding. Her LMP was 5 weeks ago and her urine β-hCG is positive.

1. List (6) predisposing factors for ectopic pregnancy. 6 marks

2. List (4) examination findings that make ectopic rather than intra-uterine pregnancy more likely. 4 marks

An ultrasound confirms and intrauterine pregnancy. On return from imaging, she becomes unwell with systolic BP 65 and HR 40. She is placed in resus and is on a monitor.
