Case: Polypharmacy overdose

A 25yr old female is brought into the resuscitation area 4 hours after a polypharmacy overdose of: Quetiapine IR 60 x 100 mg = 6 g Amlodipine 10mg/Perindopril 10 mg x 30 = 300 mg amlodipine and 300 mg perindopril Copious quantities of alcohol. O/E: HR 130 BP 85/61

SpO2 97% RA, Temp 37.0
GCS = 10-11 and agitated

1. State your risk assessment for this patient 3 marks

2. State your three initial management steps for managing her hypotension (include doses and endpoints) 6 marks

She has a partial response to your treatment HR 120, BP 100/70. But has dropped her GCS to 6 and you decide to intubate.

3. . State, with drug names and doses how you would intubate this patient. 6 marks

Post intubation she drops her BP to 60 (systolic) the ICU registrar would like to commence adrenaline.
