Case: Funnel-web spider bite

You are the day consultant in a large regional ED on the east coast of NSW. You have received notice from the local ambulance service that they are bringing in a 4-year-old boy bitten on the right lower leg by a spider – identified only as ‘large and black’. He has a pressure immobilisation bandage (PIB) in-situ.
